Holly Springs Town offices will reopen at 10 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.

Town offices were closed Tuesday because of the snow. Only emergency personnel were on duty. Tuesday night's Town Council meeting was canceled.

Worsening conditions led Town Manager Carl Dean to close offices altogether Tuesday for the safety of employees and customers. Council members canceled their evening meeting at the manager's recommendation. The Town Council's next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 3.

Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department programs, classes and games were canceled Tuesday because of the snow. The department follows the cancellation policy of Wake County Public Schools, which were closed Tuesday.

Holly Springs Public Works crews have been on the job since midnight Monday. They have been plowing, sanding, and salting roads, starting with main roads such as Main Street, Holly Springs Road and Sunset Lake Road. Primary roads in and out of subdivisions are the second priority for crews. Side streets and cul-de-sacs come last.

The Holly Springs Police Department has reported about eight single-vehicle traffic mishaps since 5 a.m. They included vehicles sliding off roadways and winding up in ditches. No serious injuries were reported.
