Triangle residents have to look no further than Cary for a live performance of the “The Beeple”, as presented by Applause! Cary Youth Theatre, Thursday-Saturday, May 14-16, 2009, at Northwoods Elementary School, 8850 Chapel Hill Road; shows begin at 7:30 p.m.  The show marks the final performance of the Applause! Cary Youth Theatre’s 10th Season.  Advance tickets can still be purchased for $10 (adults) $8 (seniors and students), and $5 (children under the age of 5) at the Herb Young Community Center box office, noon-6 p.m., Monday-Friday or through Ticketmaster at (919) 834-4000 or at www.ticketmaster.com.  All tickets purchased at the door are $10.

“The Beeple” takes place in the imaginary world where people are bees and bees are people.  John Willy Entwistle lands in the kingdom of Hex, where Techbee Humble is smitten with Princess Sweebee, even though she is betrothed to Captain General Glorybee! When Humble finds out that Glorybee is conspiring with the enemy to kidnap Sweebee and capture the Golden Secret of Hex, John Willy persuades him to attempt to rescue the Princess. With the help of the clumsy (and rather annoying) Fuzzbuzz, they set off to do the right thing.

“Come out and celebrate the beauty of nature at Bond Park in this entertaining performance where bees are people and people are bees,” said Youth Theatre Coordinator Rachel Green.  “Each year, our community’s most talented youth put on a spectacular performance.”  Green added that this year’s director is Julya Mirro, founder and ‘Clotho’ of Free Associate Theatre Ensemble, and teacher at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School.

Since 1999, Applause! productions have been introducing the world of theatre, performance and production to first-time performers, designers and stagehands, and giving more advanced participants a chance to further develop their skills and interests.  The productions also nurture creativity and build confidence in young people.  In addition to two annual mainstage productions, Applause! offers process-oriented theatre classes, camps and workshops staffed by professional actors, designers, directors and teachers.

In case of inclement weather, information will be available at (919) 465-4792.
